German born Celia Rogge has lived and worked in New York since the mid 90s, she has also called Berlin, London, Washington DC and Montreux her home. Since the late 2010s she divides her time between the US, Germany and Portugal.

Celia Rogge’s artistic expression is fundamentally influenced by living between two diverging continents, cultures, architectural styles, and languages.

While her motto is “Always Look Up” and her pursuit of “Reflections” is, at first, meant figuratively, they are also meant to suggest spiritual reflection.

Her artistic work itself is divided into her own “Yin & Yang” signified by “Order and Emotion”, each expressed through distinct photographic techniques.

In her Yin - Rogge’s profound fascination with symmetry, linear structure, and reflective surfaces is manifested in her artistic expression.

Her expansive images of grand interiors spanning all across Europe, the United States, and Australia exemplify her passion for linearity, order, and the vanishing point.

In particular, her Enfilades, doorways through interconnecting interiors, captivate the viewer by drawing them into a new perspective and, more importantly, symbolizing forward motion, portals to the subsequent chapters in life…A new story line.

In her architectural works of New York City, London, and Berlin Reflections Rogge invites the viewer to perceive the clear lines in each metropolis from a novel, a literally ‘reflective’ perspective.

Conversely, as the Yang or complement to this, she ventures into Nature, capturing her “emotionally reflective” work.

It is here where she uses her dedicated daylight infrared camera. In these works it is the sunlight itself that is reflected and absorbed on a frequency that lies just outside our human visual spectrum.

Common sights are filtered through the transformative power of light, creating dreamlike landscapes. By capturing this distinct frequency of light, Rogge uncovers the emotional depth within seemingly unemotional subjects. Her vistas are elevated to a to a higher spiritual beauty.

"Light is the photographic medium par excellence; it is to the photographer what words are to the writer; color and paint to the painter; wood, metal, stone, or clay to the sculptor."   Andreas Feininger
